Murray Camden Glass

Murray Camden Glass is a collaboration between leading New Zealand glass artists Emma Camden and David Murray, in which they combine their skills to make beautiful yet affordable small works in cast glass.

Both artists successfully span the bridge between practical expertise and artistic concept which pulls their work in a direction far beyond the vessels and bowls that have previously been associated with glass.

David Murray completed his training at the School of Art, Otago Polytechnic in 1987.  He has become known for his signature pieces bearing names like ‘Hunter’, ‘Gatherer’, ‘Cradle’ and ‘Territory’; which all evoke a sense of presence or action.

Emma Camden was born in Portsmouth, England, and studied glass at the University of Sunderland in England, where she gained a BA(Hons), before immigrating to New Zealand.  She was the first New Zealand artist to win the prestigious Australasian RFC Glass Prize (later known as Ranamok).
