Paul Mason

Paul Mason's great skill and exquisite work over some 50 years has earned him an almost iconic stature in the field of New Zealand's arts and crafts.

Beginning as a jeweller working in the traditional materials "bone, stone and shell" in the 1970's, Mason has continued throughout his career to excel at design, metal work and photography, as well as both small and large scale sculptural work in bronze and stone.

An outstanding designer, he has produced a number of designs for industry and continues to explore the idea of designing for manufacture by other makers.

Mason’s work is held in public and private collections in New Zealand and overseas, including the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, and The Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt.
