Victoria McIntosh

Victoria McIntosh has two qualifications from theDunedin School of Art: graduating in 1991 with a Diploma in Fine Arts (Printmaking)and again in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Jewellery and Metalsmithing).

McIntoshis both a jeweller and object maker, working with vintage textiles,haberdashery and common kitchen items to explore ideas around body image,autonomy and reproductive rights – often using humour as a useful tool todiscuss serious subjects.

McIntoshdescribes herself as a compulsive collector and hoarder and has always beendrawn to objects that carry a sense of history. Dunedin’s second-hand shopsprovide rich hunting grounds for overlooked treasures that form the basis formuch of her work.

In2016 McIntosh was chosen to represent New Zealand at the prestigiousinternational jewellery exhibition Schmuck in Germany and her work is held in publiccollections both in New Zealand and overseas.
