Born in Germany, Spiewack gained work experience with jewellers in Canada and Germany before starting her jewellery apprenticeship at the Goldsmith and Watchmaker School in Pforzheim, Germany. In 1991 she gained her qualification as a certified goldsmith.

After her technical training Spiewack went on to study Jewellery Design at the University College of Design, Pforzheim, gaining a BA in Jewellery and Object Design in 1996. She emigrated to New Zealand in 1999, re-establishing her practice in Christchurch.

While Spiewack’s jewellery bears all the hallmarks of European aesthetics, she says her work today is more influenced by her observations of natural materials, shapes and phenomena in her new homeland.  Exquisite bone-carving features in much of her work

Spiewack’s work has been exhibited throughout New Zealand, Germany, The Netherlands, USA and Australia.
