Lindy McSwann

Lindy McSwan completed a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Honours, Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT University in Melbourne in 2014. Her practice has developed to include jewellery, vessels, small sculptural objects and works in paper.

McSwann’s recent practice has focused primarily on the vessel, often representing and interpreting aesthetics unique to the Australian landscape. Using the vessel as her canvas, she expresses notions of the sublime in remote places where harsh extremes in weather sculpt the landscape.

Devastating bushfires in her home state of Victoria in recent years – leaving behind a ghostly panorama of dead trees and charred landscapes - have provided particular inspiration for her work.

Using experimental surface applications, most often using enamel, McSwann creates objects of quiet and haunting beauty.
