Lyndsay Patterson

Lyndsay Patterson (1959 - 2023)

Such a tragic loss to the New Zealand arts community.  A wonderfully talented glass artist and a lovely person.

Lyndsay’s work is no longer available in the gallery, but we are leaving these images here for you to enjoy.

More about Lyndsay:

Lyndsay Patterson graduated in 1999 from Wanganui Polytechnic with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and is well known for his masterly glass blowing and cold working.

Patterson has twice been a finalist in the prestigious trans-Tasman Ranamok Glass Prize and in 2006 won the Thomas Award in Glass from the Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt.  He was one of the artists representing New Zealand in Denmark at the opening of Southern Exposure, a survey of New Zealand glass in 2004.

Patterson was a founder and co-owner of the well-known Chronicle Glass Studio and Gallery in Whanganui now known as the New Zealand Glassworks.

In recognition of his international standing as a glass artist he spent several years making the glassware that featured in “The Hobbit” trilogy of feature films.

Patterson’s work is held in public and private collections including The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and The Dowse Art Museum.
