A series of delightfully whimsical watercolours by one of New Zealand’s best-loved jewellery artists, Barry Clarke.
Meeting Mr. Neruda
I first saw the romantic film "Il Postino" in the 90s about the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda when he was in exile on the Isle of Capri. Last year I took the hired DVD to play at our bach in Kakanui with friends and it triggered a series of watercolours with the sea being a prominent part. My first meeting of Neruda was in 1975 in a book shop in Christchurch which I purchased as an aid to Spanish. It was buried on a beach in Southern Spain on a long bike trip to Agadir in Southern Morocco. The book was never retrieved. This, and the trip, is another story.
